New Inuktitut Translations Now Available: Cultural Safety Standard and Code of Conduct

last updated: November 17, 2025

The College of Nurses of the Northwest Territories and Nunavut (CANNN) is pleased to announce that two key regulatory documents—the Cultural Safety Standard and the Code of Conduct—are now available in Inuktitut.

These translations support CANNN’s ongoing commitment to cultural safety, accessibility, and linguistic inclusivity across Inuit Nunangat and the broader North. Ensuring that foundational regulatory resources are available in regional languages strengthens transparency, reduces barriers, and supports safe, competent, and culturally respectful nursing practice.

The Cultural Safety Standard outlines expectations for nursing care that is free of racism and discrimination, while honouring identity, culture, and community wellbeing. The Code of Conduct sets the principles and behaviours required of all nurses to maintain public trust and provide safe, ethical care.

CANNN remains committed to expanding language-accessible and culturally relevant resources to support registrants, communities, and the public across the Northwest Territories and Nunavut.
