Entry-to-practice Exam

Step 2 — Register with Pearson Vue: Register at pearsonvue.com/nclex. Your registration remains open for 365 days from when CANNN receives confirmation.

Important update for 2026: A new common NP regulatory model is being implemented across Canada. The Canadian NP Licensure Exam (CNPLE) will replace the CNPE. Contact CANNN for the latest information before registering for your exam.

RPNCE
The RPNCE is not administered or offered by CANNN within the territories. You must complete your exam in another jurisdiction.
How to register: Contact the Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Canada (RPNC) directly to register for the RPNCE in a jurisdiction where it is offered. Once you have passed, contact CANNN at info@cannn.ca to begin your registration application.
CANNN accepts examination results completed in other jurisdictions and will confirm your eligibility for registration upon receipt of your passing result.
Two separate processes — what to expect
Registering with CANNN as a new graduate involves two related but distinct steps:
1
Exam application
Before you can write your entry-to-practice exam, you must apply to CANNN to be declared eligible. This involves submitting specific documents and an exam application form — requirements vary by designation. Refer to the exam details in your designation tab below for specifics.
2
Registration application
After passing your exam, you apply for full registration with CANNN. Some documents overlap with your exam application, but this is a separate process with its own requirements.
The requirements listed in each tab below apply to your full registration application. For exam-specific requirements, refer to the exam pages linked in each tab.

Common Questions
Applicant FAQs
How long does the application process take?
Once all requirements have been met, it takes 10–15 business days for CANNN to follow up with questions or a decision on your registration.
I can't log in to the Applicant Portal. What do I do?
Until your application is approved and you pay the registration fee, use the Applicant Portal — not the Member Login. The Member Login becomes available after official registration. Note: phones and tablets are not compatible with the Applicant Portal. Use a computer.
Can I send my completed forms directly to CANNN?
No. All forms must come directly from the source — employers, instructors, and regulatory bodies must submit forms directly to CANNN by email or fax. CANNN does not accept forwarded forms from applicants.
How long is my application valid?
Your application remains active for six months from when you initially apply. However, if your application expires before your registration is complete — for example, if you are waiting for a later NCLEX write date — most of your documents can be carried forward to a new application. Documents that transfer include your Form G(1), instructor reference, criminal record check (if still within 6 months), photo ID, and any accommodation letters. The only documents you would need to resubmit are the exam application form and payment authorization form. If you have concerns about your timeline, contact info@cannn.ca early — CANNN can work with you.
Do I have to pay my registration fee immediately after approval?
No — as long as your application is still valid (within six months of initially applying), you can wait to pay. However, your registration will not become active until the fee is paid.
Who requests my verification of registration from other regulatory bodies?
You are responsible for requesting forms and documents from third parties, including other regulatory bodies. CANNN does not request forms on behalf of applicants.
How do I check the status of my application?
Sign in to your Applicant Portal regularly. As forms and documents are received, they are added to your application and marked as received. CANNN does not send individual reminders about outstanding documents.
